Rochester, NY

This past weekend I had the privilege of headlining The Comedy Club in Rochester, NY.  The crowds were small, but I was still able to find other things to blame it on such as The Jazz Festival and sunny weather.  Comics, as well as Club Owners, will find any reason to explain why crowds aren’t coming out.  It makes for a nice relationship.  Comics do it because they are afraid the booker won’t have them back if they realize they aren’t a draw.  Club owners do it because they don’t want the comics to think they can’t fill the seats on off weeks.

That said, I do think the crowds were small due to the nice weather and the jazz festival, which had Smash Mouth doing a free show.  Those guys wrote “All Star”, I wrote a joke about jumping in the air with my dong hanging out.  I can’t say I disagree with your choice Rochester.

I can’t say I agree with Smash Mouth at a Jazz Festival though.  I CAN agree with not having to pay to see Smash Mouth.  Seems like these festivals will do anything to get people to come out, even if the band has nothing to do with the music the festivals are promoting.   I’ve heard Kingdom Bound numbers have been declining.  Whats Marilyn Manson up to this summer?

I ended up spending some time with Jamie Lissow, who lives in Rochester now.  We ended up playing some one on one basketball in his driveway.  It was an epic battle that saw Lissow land on his foot, awkwardly, towards the end of the game.  I was up by one point, but couldn’t bring myself to drive to the basket on an injured player.  Instead I opted to shoot long range jumpers, which I missed and eventually lost the game.  This is the reason, and only reason, I wouldn’t make a decent NBA player.  I don’t have that “kill” mentality.  In all honesty though it’s a dick move to drive to the hoop on somebody who hurt themselves during a game, that has no implications of going to the NBA.  As I type this though I’m starting to question if it was a phantom injury.  I’m pretty sure Lissow knows my “kill” weakness and might have used that to his advantage.  Now I’m wishing I would have driven to the basket.  Oh well, I’ll blame the Jazz Festival and Sunny weather for my loss
